Meal Services

LHANC provides seniors with nutritionally balanced meals to help maintain or improve their nutrition status, which in turn will improve or maintain their health status and ability to remain living at home. All menus are prepared under the supervision of a registered, licensed dietitian.

Congregate Meals Service -- Served at Senior Centers throughout Miami-Dade County for the 33 past years, nutritious meals are provided to about 1,750 unduplicated seniors every week day. These meals are designed to provide 1/3 of an elderly person's daily nutritional needs.

In addition to receiving congregate meals, seniors who attend the senior centers have many other services at their disposal. These services include transportation to and from the center, recreation activities such as arts and crafts and music appreciation, dominoes, bingo, and other group table games. Seniors in attendance are also offered exercise instruction provided by certified exercise trainers and with a program specific to the needs and abilities of seniors.

LHANC offers congregate meals services at the following locations:

Home Delivered Meals Service -- This program is for frail, homebound, elderly and disabled adults to help them maintain their independence as long as possible. This program, which has operated for the last 28 years, serves about 1,800 clients every day, providing them with a nutritious meal.

The Home Delivered Meals program delivers more than nutrition. Each client is contacted regularly through the telephone reassurance program and receives regularly scheduled home visits from LHANC staff.
